SYDNEY, 24th March 2015. One of the world’s greatest Sportscar races took place in Australia in early February and Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket Australia was a part of it for the first time. The Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour was an incredible motor race that saw no fewer than 54 Sportscar entries take part from Australia and all over the world

The vast majority of the Bathurst 12 Hour field comprised of European high performance vehicles, making this race is a true standalone feature of the Australian motorsport calendar. This event’s definite European vehicle slant made it an obvious and highly effective trade marketing platform for Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket who for the first time, gained title sponsorship of a team taking part in this epic Australian motor race.

Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket Australia sponsored the Australian PPE Racing Team Audi TT competing in Class D of the Bathurst 12 Hour. The entire car featured the Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket logo across the sides, bonnet, roof and rear sections, providing all four of the company’s world leading automotive aftermarket brands LuK, INA, FAG and Ruville with significant on track, television and web stream coverage. With a record crowd attendance this year of more than 32,000 fans and a remarkable television audience peaking at almost three quarters of a million people, along with many more watching the race via live internet streaming across the world, the event was a major marketing tool for promoting Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket Australia to the Australian automotive trade. This involvement also promoted Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket’s offering to the global aftermarket through the major international interest in the event.

This Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket Australia sponsorship also gained strong international traction via the Audi motorsport website. Also of note was the presence of Schaeffler’s Championship winning DTM Team, Phoenix Racing, who were competing in the Bathurst 12 Hour with their outstanding Audi R8 LMS Ultra V10, sharing the pit garage with the Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket Australia sponsored Audi TT.

The Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket PPE Racing Audi TT was equipped with an array of Schaeffler components covering all company brands, such as a LuK dual mass flywheel and transmission components, INA tensioners and pulleys, FAG wheel bearings along with Ruville steering and suspension parts. The Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket Australia Audi TT was a racing billboard that also actually showcased all of the company’s aftermarket component segments at work at a major international motorsport event.

The race itself was filled with drama, with no fewer than 20 Safety Car interventions that covered a staggering 73 of the 269 laps due to all manner of incidents. Unfortunately for Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket Australia, the PPE Racing Audi retired due to an accident at the fifth hour, after having led its class early in the race.
