For the bearing arrangement of the main drive shaft, radial ball bearings 6010 were selected. These bearings can support both radial and axial loads. The available space in the secondary shaft is smaller. Angular contact ball bearings 7205 BE are therefore used at this point to support the radial and axial loads.
The angular contact ball bearings have a contact angle of 40˚ (suffix B) and a larger ball set (suffix E).
The freedom from clearance required is achieved by providing additional support to the radial and angular contact ball bearings. The radial and angular contact ball bearings are lubricated by the gearbox oil. This oil bath lubrication is sufficient if the take-off direction is to the side or downwards.
The seals in the housing protect the bearings and bevel gears against contamination and retain the oil in the gearbox.
If the take-off direction is upwards, there is a risk that the angular contact ball bearings will not be sufficiently provided with oil. In this case, angular contact ball bearings 7205 BE 2RS are used. These have contact seals on both sides and are supplied greased.
